The Land Rover lineup has existed in some form officially since 1948 when the first Land Rover was released at the Amsterdam Motor Show. It is the second longest running four wheel drive car brand behind Jeep.
Land Rover was a subsidiary of the Rover car company. Since the inception of Range Rover, it has had a variety of models under their banner, including Defender, Discovery, Freelander, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque.
The Company was spun off into it’s own entity in 1978, but since then has been bought and sold nearly half a dozen times. It currently is owned by Indian Tata Motors, who also purchased Jaguar from Ford at the same time as Land Rover. And remember Girls play in mud also!
